Tutoring Wanted.....
« on: 2009-11-27 19:56:54 »
Hey People......

I'm pretty bemused  :-(

I have been trying, and trying, and trying, to load a custom model into ff7PC.....

I've read all the forums and downloaded many tutorials, But have yet to successfully load my model into the game.

I am using "3dsmax" and have created some models i would like to import into the game.

My main problem is that when i export the file as ".3ds" Pcreator does not appear to load any data

Is there any download or highly detailed video available which shows the journey from "3dsmax to FF7"

I would really like to be able to help in some of the ongoing projects.

Here's a preview of my modelling (I'm still working on this model)

use Biturn and convert the guard scorpion to 3ds.  Load that into max.  You'll see it's cut up into many pieces.  Cut yours into the same pieces.  Export them one by one making sure that they are in the center of the grid-plane.  Load that into PCreator.

How many polygons is that model.? If it's over, say 5000, you are going to have massive issues.

more than 5000 isnt a huge deal, but i must say, it looks kind of like your using subsurfaces so chances are the count /is/ pretty high. Also dont light your model. in battle, they arnt lit, so if you want an acurate idea of how it'll look, only view your texture.

Poly count is a per p file issue, but the total model can have a higher total. Usually 5000-7000 vertices per p file is about all that kimera can handle without crashing, but ffvii models are made of many p files. So once you get that model cut up all the pieces should be small enough, but subsurf might be an issue. Sometimes you can get away with 9000 or so but it tends to crash Pcreator.

Well first you want to find your favorite program, then you want to create a model, then you want to create a texture, then you want to be more familiar with your favorite program so you know how to use its functions, then you want to do a little research yourself instead asking to be spoon fed, then finally you want to click this because it's one big giant link

No need to be nasty, If you actually read the topic.........

Then you would know that the problem is getting Pcreator to use the UV maps that i already know how to make.

Although I don't see the point in making a program and not teaching people how to use it.......

Pcreator topic is full of Hypocrisy, They all gloat about their work and want every new mod or idea for themselves.

But they never seem want to help anyone learn......

These projects will never never progress unless some people lighten up and stop being bitchy

These forums after all were started to allow the creation, sharing and improving of FF games for all

As for pcreator, i dont have a clue. but i acknowledge your effort and thats sexy.
There are some threads here somewhere that show how to use it, i have seen them with my own eyes.

http://webpages.charter.net/reunionvii/

That is the pcreator homepage, check out the tutorials section.
