Griever save issues
« on: 2010-03-16 17:43:26 »
Hello. I am having trouble with Griever, i know how to change stuff in the save file, but when i hit the save button and put yes for the first window that pops up i get an error screen (i guess cause it has a blue circle with a !) and it says C:\Program Files (x86)\Eidos Interactive\Square Soft,Inc\FINAL FANTASY VIII\Save\Slot1\Save01. When I go into the game it's as if I had done nothing, but when I go in Griever and load the file, it has all the info i tried to change. I have tried with multiple files and I have also put Griever into the FF VIII directory and it is the same message, the only difference is the Save number at the end (for ex \Save01, \Save02, \Save03 and so on) If anyone has any input as how to solve it I would greatly appreciate it.

This question does belong in tech support so it would likely be answered here.

The only suggestion I can make is put your save file in a directory without spaces and try to edit it from there.

Is that the entire contents of the "error" message? If there's any more text to it it'd be helpful to know.

Yea, that's the whole message, nothing more. And what do you mean?

well first disable UAC if its enabled. Then try using PSXMemTool (i know its called PSXMemtool but it comes with a Griever plugin and allows you to edit PC saves).

I'm not sure if this issue was ever answered on these boards, but i found after moving it to the correct folder as stated above and running griever as administrator (right click and run as admin) that the items and magic worked.

I'm still testing the other features, but it looks promising.

Perhaps you should try using Hyne.
