I'm going to put this here for anyone who has been having issues loading their New Threat 2.0 (my version is 2.099994) saves: download version 1.14.0 of Black Chocobo. For whatever reason, this build does not crash on opening the saves I had issues with on 1.16.0 and 1.15.0(1).

Sithlord48, You can download the save in question for testing here: https://we.tl/t-fIs06jdYVZ

The issue is that new threat creates materia above the value that the game uses (i.e id above 90 ) bc dont' know what todo with that id

I have done a few adjustments to the code that should fix the crashing and allow you to edit those materia if found in your file

FireWire280 Please try the newest blackchocobo build from https://github.com/sithlord48/blackchocobo/releases/tag/continuous and lmk how it goes.

Awesome! That seems to have solved things, at least with my saves.

Would it make sense to make a 1.17 release? Some places like AUR still distribute 1.16.

Can Black Chocobo add new materia that were created by mods?

When opening a New Threat 2.0 save, I see that when it encounters a materia it doesn't recognize, it just says its ID (for example, 0x42 for Osmose). But it doesn't let me create a materia with arbitrary ID.

I want to add Postscriptthree's Tweaks Morph As Well. I have the materia enabled in the mod, but I have no mod that actually create it in game (I'm trying to find out its ID, but even if I find it I don't know to make Black Chocobo add a materia by ID)

Maybe I need to use the hex editor?

Yes you can enable the full range of items and materia in the setting under editing enable the "Show placeholders in Materia and Items Lists" option. While you will not be able to see the names you will be able to pick the unused ids and add them to your materia / item "inventory"

i've tried using this to boost my character levels from 9 or 10 to the 38-40 range, just to make things go easier/faster. however it seems like something causes my game to crash. i edit the file & save it. then i load the game and load the save file. after a few seconds of playing, the game crashes to a black screen and gives me this pop up but the log file is empty

Hi I'm wondering if this tool can solve a problem for me. I'm recording a playthrough for a youtube video. Last night I did the entire crater section where Cloud hands over the black materia and we first see Zack, you know really important stuff for covering the game's narrative. I foolishly overwrote my save from the start of the session and when I checked the footage the screen recorder had bugged and only recorded audio with a black screen.  My plan is to back up the save and continue for now. But when I'm finished I'm wondering if I can use this to roll back the save or create a save that starts in the crater before the wind maze?  The only other save I have is way back n disk one before the Cetra temple and I did a lot of limit break grinding in that time.

Hello everyone. Black Chocobo seems like a great tool. Does anyone know if it internally marks PlayStation .mcd save files in any way? In other words, if I were manually editing a save file that had already been edited by Black Chocobo, would I be able to see any  indication that the save had been previously edited?

I found a new value in the save memory. It is in the address 0x0EA6 (or where the Step counter is, minus 4 bytes). This value displays: AP received from all battles during current playthrough.

Hi. I hope this is OK to ask here. The User Guide section on the Black Chocobo site seems to not work. If there is somewhere I can learn about this topic please redirect me.

I have been playing on the Switch version of the game, on an unmodded Switch 2. I have also the game on my PSP where I can edit save files. I would like to recreate my Switch file on my PSP, even if I have to do it manually. I can figure out how to add my current items, materia, gil, but I'm wondering about how to copy game progress. Namely some of the choices I've made will likely yield some impact later on (I'm still on Disc 1). I don't quite understand the game progress tab of black chocobo. What the "Main Progression" number on the top left means, and the even progress flags below it, seem to refer to only the Midgar section. I would like to understand how to edit game progression better so that I can closely recreate my file at the same point with the same choices I have made during the playthrough.

If someone can help me achieve this I'd appreciate it.

the game progress tab is not complete just save the switch copy as psp format if you can.. it maybe best to start with a save from the save complation that is close in progress to yours and then modify it from there.

Thank you. My Switch isn't modded so I don't think it's possible to extract the save. Thank you for the tip about the save compilation. I wanted aware of it but was able to find a reddit post about it.
