Sephiroth's Last Name??

Cloud Strife, Tifa Lockhart, Aerith Gainsborough, Barret Wallace, Zack Fair, Yuffie Kisaragi, Vincent Valentine, Cid Highwind. How about Sephiroth?? I googled it and found out that its Sephiroth Valentino in everything2.com but I don't believe it because Hojo is his father so I'm guessing Sephiroth have the last name of Hojo. Or maybe Sephiroth Crescent because of Lucrecia?? Hmm..

As I recall Lucrecia wasn't married to Hojo, so child from that kind of relationship most often retains mother's maiden name.

I never really thought about it, but it's likely he has one. We DO know who both his parents are, but he probably thought he was an orphan so he never gave himself one. I suppose if anything it should be Hojo, but that would have clues him into who his father was. Since Hojo said that Sephiroth didn't know he probably wasn't given that name.
But think about Aeris. Her father's name was Gast yet she ended up with Gainsborough which is never explicitly stated as her adopted mother's name. Sephiroth was never "adopted" so he didn't get a last name. Still, kind of odd since SE are obsessed with giving their characters last names even if they aren't mentioned in the games they are in (ie. Squall, Zidane, Tina, Kefka).

So he named himself Sephiroth but no last name?? But I really like Sephiroth name alone. Sephiroth Valentino don't sound good. Maybe that's why SE did'nt gave Sephiroth a last name because the name sounds best with no last name.

In the FFVII story arcs, Sephiroth is just "TOO POWERFUL" To have a last name, and he's "TOO COOL!" >_< Lol.  Seriously, Sephiroth wouldn't be as big as everyone if he had a last name.

actually.. i think people are called by there first name like that all the time, i myself have been called "Mister Brandon" a hell of alot, as well as many many people i know, so it could just be the dialogue type

Heres a better question, is Hojo the first name or last name

If Sephiroth had Hojo's last name, would it be Hojo or something else?

I have read a question like yours in the other forums and they're implying that Hojo is the last name because when a doctor or proffesor is called we start by Proffesor "last name". Example is Proffesor Einstein not Proffesor Albert.
