Alright, I'm guessing the enable/disable toggle doesn't work. I may be wrong though because I'm basing this on the fact that on OR off I get black boxes. Either way, Rivatuner is reflecting that I'm using 81.94, which I am. I've come to the conclusion that Software Rendering may just be the way to go, thanks anyway, guys.

It's just that I'll be running with 8xS FSAA and 8xAnisotropic Filtering... that's the only reason, trying to push the graphics as good as I can. Though I read that using the TNT fix on FF7 force-fails 8bit, so I may just turn it on and try that for FF7, which should fix both FF7 & 8.

Turns out 8Bit is already on.. it just fails. >.<

After looking around, trying to turn off/on AA/Aniso, Pass/Fail 8Bit Textures, and multiple other things I can't get rid of them.

I'm on a 3GHz P4 w/ HT (Prescott)
1GB RAM
with a nVidia FX5200 128MB (DirectX 8 Version) video card.

Found a post here that said 6xxx series failed (didn't see anything about 5xxx :/) and the only workaround was software rendering.. I'd rather not resort to that, so I'll try the GeForce patch... if anyone has suggestions, I'm ready to listen.

[Forgot to mention: I get black boxes where I suppose 8Bit Paletted Textures should be.. it came disabled in the 81.85 Forceware Drivers.. I previously had it disabled to work with FFVII, workaround? In other news the gridlines were solved by the GeForce patch.]

Though I'm not sure why you're having these problems, I'm almost completely sure XPSP2 isn't causing the problems (however many other problems it is causing :P).

Well, I just kept restarting and I eventually beat him, though in the strategy guide I have, you aren't supposed to beat him until Disc 3. Oh well.

Yeah, the ACE Mega Codec Pack probably isn't one of the best things to have installed, actually. It seems to cause a lot of problems/codec conflicts, I recommend the CCCP fixes most playback problems on most anything.

7
Get rivatuner and disable the 8bit palletted textures on your card. Then setup FF7 to use the nVidia fix on TNT, that should fix everything, because it sounds like what problems I've had and how I fixed 'em on a FX5200 (DX8).

Yep, EmperorSteele, It's just that I've never had this problem on the PSX version.. Ultima Weapon literally disappearing from the map.. :/

Troubleshooting / Crash at Submarine Minigame

Strange.. I have nearly the same setup and didn't experience a crash..

Question: Do you use 1.02 and hardware mode? If not you may want to, and if you do you may want to get rivatuner and force 8bit palleted textures off.

Specs:
Windows XP Professional
1GB RAM
Geforce FX 5200 (DX8 version)
3GHz Pentium4

I looked around and didn't find anything, but has anyone had any problems with Ultima Weapon on the world map?

It seems that randomly after I fight Ultima Weapon it will disappear completely, even after searching the entire map for fifteen minutes he is no where to be found.

Just wondering if anyone else was having this problem and if there might be a fix for it. (I've been restarting the game after every battle to get it to reappear, except once where he stayed on the map.)

By the way: I'm using the Hi-Res patch with FF7Music and the MGP.

Heh..  same thing happened to me... never looked around though... wasn't sure if that was a bug or maybe I was doing something stupid to make it happen. ^^;

Releases / Battle model > Field model Conversion FINALLY!!
« on: 2005-11-03 23:16:04 »
Alright, thanks for the file size. Secondly, the crash only happens when I try to install the models via the tutorial, because I couldn't find another way to install the NPC models. Anyway, that's the only time it black screens, when I use the actual Reunion Patch everything runs smoothly, but I don't like the clipping.

Thanks again.

Releases / Battle model > Field model Conversion FINALLY!!

Quick question: what's the size of an unmodified char.lgp?

Edit: Heh, I suppose while I'm waiting I'll go ahead and ask. When replacing the models with the Reunion and NPC Reconstruction sets, do I need to modify world_us.lgp or menu_us.lgp?
Because as of now, just modifying char.lgp gets me a black screen and a crash when I try to enter a different area.

Thanks in advance for all of your help, guys.

YAY ME, I mean thanks for fixing that crash on Cait Sith's Slots, dziugo. :P

What output dll are you using? I believe the ds_out.dll is kind of buggy and you may be able to fix your problem using wav(e?)_out.dll or just something other than the directshow dll.

The new FF7Music doesn't require a patch and can use the psfs. That would fix the 'bad filesize' or 'CRC checksum' errors you are getting. The high-res patch in the multipatcher is also outdated, and you're better off using the new one from the front page of this thread.

Troubleshooting / Slots crash

Considering how he can kill Emerald/Ruby with one attack (I think so.. the one with 3 parts of Cait Sith's face on the Slots.), I wouldn't say he sucks too much..

Troubleshooting / Slots crash

By 'slots crash' (sorry I didn't specify earlier) I mean it crashes when I try to use Cait Sith's limit break: Slots.  And that's why I'm completely not sure why it's crashing with it on.. because like I said earlier, everything works up until I install the MGP, then the Slots limit starts to crash the game. :/       Yes, I'm on the English Version, also.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that this has to do with the Hi-Res patch, but I also read it had to do with an old version. I'm using the latest Hi-Res patch with ff7music and a scene.bin modification.

[Edit] Ok, 1.02 doesn't crash on slots. A fresh 1.02 patched with just the 1280x960 patch doesn't crash. Hmm.. and patched with the 1280x1024 patch doesn't cause the crash..

Turns out it's the Mini Games patch causing it to crash.. though I'm not sure why.

About the Land Worm, I came across one at about level 23, and your surprise did make it hard. Killed me even >.>. So I... cheated a little to try and beat it for the items you said would be worth it, to see what they were. After beating it all I got was a potion... bug?

Is the ficeco~1.dll file still lingering? I believe I had to delete that too, now that I think about it, if not, sorry I'm not exactly sure what fixed it in that case.
