Come now, Jari.

You are just sad that BT wasn't around when FF was released.

General Discussion / How fast did you beat FFVII?
« on: 2005-01-06 15:11:09 »
Mime + Limits + knights of the round (I if memory serves) freaking rawked hard.  I usually had Cid + Barret + Cloud...and someone always had final strike with pheonix, in case I really messed stuff up.

Fastest time: 4 years ago... about 30 hours.

Best game:  50-60 hrs.

First time through: 75 hrs.

Good stuff.

Troubleshooting / Execution crash again... help... ^_^

Have you patched FF?  What OS are you running? Check to see if you CD's are scratched...that's a big crasher right there.  Just some general ideas...that could be found in the Great FF Faq. ^_^

L. Spiros right though, no need to be telling other people to calm down when they are simply saying that at least some puctuation is expecated, and hes right, it should be.

It's funny watching non-mods act like mods... ^_^

And as for the original post, what do you need help with?? Is if FF7, FF8?  If the fonts look funked out, try using hi-res fonts.  I believe this can be configured for both FF7 & FF8.  I know it works for sure in FF8.  Good luck.

  With the amount of programs that do not bloody work anymore thanks to SP2, it would be ironic that FF7 would work better.  Who knows.  I'll have to slap my copy of FF into my Sp2 box and see.

Not to be rude...but I wouldn't go advertising that your copy is DDL'd.  Some people tend to get antsy about that.

That's what you need...they just released 1.5 w00t!  NetBeans is pretty easy to use, and has a cute GUI interface.  I'd recommend it, since you don't have experiance with Java yet.

Thento Barnse & Noble or Amazon.com and grab a copy of Java Programming for Dummies.  It's a really good book, and easy to read.  Believe me, it saved my arse in my freshman CompSci class, when I had a crappy instructor who didn't explain jack to me.

edit:  Qhimm, Tri-posting rawks though.  Can't you feel the n00b tonight? ^_^ (shameless rip on Elton John)

**Cough** /spam ;-)

This thread went the wrong way.  I was just playing about the 12 yr old AOLer link.  The kid may have dyslexia, or whatever, but it's life, we all have our issues.  If the kid want's to learn how to code or /., point him in the right dirrection.  That's all I was doing.

Trying running FF7 in windows 98 compatibility mode.  That should chop it down.  Or manually slow down the frame rate on the Vid card by editing the Direct X/ OpenGL settings under display properties.

Sp2 is probably killing your game.  Did you install Direct Draw yet?

Aslo, run FF in Compatabilty mode, for win98/ME.  Then see if it works.

edit:  Moreover, did you install the FF XP Patch yet?

Amen.  What was it... a bit over 2 yrs ago he posted that?  Good stuff...prompted me to try it... but Garden was quite the monster...worked about 1/2 the time for me.. had to change a bunch of code...and it ate up like 2 GB when you uncompressed all the FF8 files! Sheesh!

General Discussion / BUTCHER, FAKE?
« on: 2004-05-01 15:14:57 »
OMFG that's too funny.  Almost as random as Maddox's last rant.  IMHO, it's possible to get the butcher...u just really have to work at it.

Cane was on the right track with the last 1/35 that's really a 1/36, after you get that, make sure you kill all the weapons (ruby + emerald, I believe), and then you're guys will get transported back to the chocobo ranch.

I haven't done it in a while... but if I remember correctly, the teleport is more like another mini-cloud dream sequence, where he slowly remembers where he is, and talks to the butcher outside of the ranch.

It takes a while to do all that... and first you have to get through the entire game up to that point with only using the Buster Sword and Bronze Bangle.

22
Of course it is highly questionable.   But that's what makes it more fun.  Kinda like trick the newbs, except copywrite version ;-)

23
Well...if you have broadband, you can always aquire teh cd's... **wink wink** technically that's legal if you have a copy of them somewhere.

24
Dude.  Those pockets have the XXL materia, don't you know.

25
Then go do a Microsoft Downloads or MSDN search.  ;-)  Open your eyes my friend, the truth is out there.
