just wanted to let you know Aali, we've go transparency working just fine.
http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=9221.0

That's without an alpha channel as well, simply deleting the background and saving is sufficent to get transparency. Awesome work man!

Custom graphics driver for FF7/FF8 [v.1-.7.6]
Hey everybody, I'm hoping I'm asking the right group for help with this, I can load up a game fine using the driver, I used to get the warning about not having texture support or an indirect path until I turned just about every option off and set the resolution to 640x480. But now as soon as I'm on the map I notice that Cloud's feet are no longer textured, and in battles neither is Cid's body, just his spear, also I no longer get a battle swirl.  Also If I enter the Highwind and hit the menu button, I get a game crash.  Anyway, just wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing anything similar, I tried messing with the settings for the openGL in windows, there was a guy a while back (Mindrip) that used the same graphics card I have (Mobile Intel 945, don't laugh), and he posted some settings he used in this thread to get it working, but it doesn't seem to work for me. There's a link for my APP log, the crash dmp file from the ff7 folder, and a crash ff7 file that was created in my saves folder I just noticed, the ff7_opengl.cfg file is in there too.  If anyone could help out it would be appreciated, thanks.

I'd like to point out that you still have a # infront of the location to the music plugin, No big deal i know. But you might want to clear that for the next release  :-P

EDIT: another possible bug report, this one at SL's request Seems the team avalanche fonts have a transparency issue

I'd like to point out that the # is intentional, and always was. If you load the music plugin you don't get original MIDI.

The transparency issue happens because the z-sort does not currently try to break up draw calls and all text is drawn with only two draw calls (one for each texture).
So if you have transparent windows and text at different levels it will most likely mess up.

Just letting you know. I installed the driver to solve the fullscreen start menu problem (now works fine), however, when I exit the game ff7.exe encounters an error and the program crashes.

I'm starting the game from ff7music.exe (and have removed the #). After the crash ff7music continues playing the music until I close that actual app.

Edited to say: I'm using 2D0, Apz, ff7music, hi res menu and custom barrett. Windows 7 x64.

eDIT: Also crashes when entering world map.

hmm, curious

I reverted back to the old stable driver, and was still getting the same crashes. I removed the new hi res maps mod, adn everything is now working as normal

Will try new driver with no map mod installed

that is odd indeed. I haven't had any troubles with the new map mod, and i couldn't imagine it would be the cause of your crashes.  It's simply a new texture, loaded by the custom driver. What else do you have installed?

ok. Prior to updating to new aali driver tonight was running:
patch 1.02, apz cloud, 2DO, hi res menu, ff7music, hi res map, custom barrett and an earlier version of aali's driver. Worked fine with no crashes.

Updated Aali's driver to make full screen start menu work, and the crashes started.

I removed full screen start and new Aali driver to hopefully revert, and still had the "zoning" crashes and ff7.exe error on exit.

So..I removed the hi res map, and everything back to normal.

I'm not sure which mod caused the error on exit, but the crash on entering world map was solved by removing world map mod.

Custom graphics driver for FF7/FF8 [v.1-.7.6]
Hey there. I just updated to the latest FF7 version of the driver and I encountered an issue. Note that I didn't add anymore mods after updating to the latest driver, all was done beforehand.

I tested by initiating a new game from the menu, and the opening FMV started to play. But not more than 5 seconds, the screen crashed and an error appeared. Apparently I had to ALT+F4 to get out of the situation. It happened all the time as I tried. So I decided to revert back to 0.7.1b version and bingo, the issue was solved.

I reckon that the problem lies with the latest version. I don't know if I'm the only one who got such an issue but probably many of you neglected it. So I guess I'd still be using the 0.7.1b version, hahas :D

Thanks for letting us know, but it would be a lot more helpful if you provide more information.
Was a crash.dmp generated? App.log?
What other mods are installed?
What was the error that appeared?

Any information you can provide will help this bug get fixed. Saying that something broke between the old version and the new version doesn't really help.

Sure, but it's getting late here. I'll install and then post back. I however had no idea on how to provide the crash.dmp as it's so long. Do I upload the file (as I never had)? :D

It looks like the best way is probably to put APP.LOG and crash.dmp into a zip file and upload that to RapidShare or a similar site, then post the link here. It'd be handy if the forum allowed attachments, but that would probably wind up killing the server if it was enabled.

Sorry for late posting. Here's the error that showed up when I tried to start a new game which initiated the opening FMV, and crashed.

Code: [Select]
Oops! Something very bad happened.
Wrote crash.dmp to FF7 install dir.
Please provide a copy of it along with APP.LOG when reporting this error.
Write emergency save to save/crash.ff7?

YES/NO

Here's the APP.LOG and crash.dmp:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AOOE2YSE

P.S. There were also a number of error (similarly) that occured when trying to enter the Highwind's cockpit and also when coming in/out (to/fro town?) the worldmap. There might be more :o

I'm getting errors in towns as well.  I took the time to write what all I've tried down in notepad so here it is
Code: [Select]
So by itself AVALANCHE doesn't crash the game when entering a town.  When FF7Music is used in conjuction with it, it crashes.
After applying Nero's full screen start menu mod, the text no longer shows, but it is possible to enter towns with FF7Music playing.
Once AVALANCHE is reinstalled over the full screen start menu, the crashes begin again, but text is visible.

Upon reverting back to .7.1, obviously the fullscreen start menu is gone, however FF7Music can be used alongside AVALANCHE and going in towns is possible.

My only conclusion is there is some sort of bug in .7.2 because this is the first time I've had such random crashes
Any ideas Aali?

I've said it a number of times already, there are some random crash issues in 0.7.2b and they have already been fixed on my end.
It should have nothing to do with FF7Music, it can be affected by external textures though.

That said, I'm still interested in seeing your crash.dmp's, just in case something else pops up.

Cool, I can't wait for the next release ^o^ I wonder when it'll be out? I wanted to use Nero's fullscreen start menu with 0.7.2 but with the many issues I had to hold on to 0.7.1 atm ):

Anyways, I'm really grateful for all these great works coming from you. Thanks alot ya!

You need to make sure that you run the registry key after ff7config.exe or it will revert to the original driver.
