I just finished Suikoden III. I enjoyed it a lot, but as has been a theme for several years now, beating an RPG makes me feel like crap. The result is many save files from various games that are 80-98% complete. Anyway, I need to pick the next RPG to play.
Suikoden III was the first Suikoden I've played. I haven't played the others. I know some people might be appalled, but I have no attachment to playing the series in order, and through my research have decided that I'll probably enjoy Suikoden II more than the original. So this is my first choice.
It has also been awhile since I've played through Tactics. I feel like it is time to play it again. I found some FFT 1.3 mod that apparently raises the difficulty and subtely and not-so-subtly alters a variety of details.
Pokemon Blue came to mind, but then the entire game flashed through my head and the desire was gone. Not that it wouldn't be fun, I just remember it too well, and there are only so many different ways to play it.
So the choices are Suikoden II, FFT (standard), FFT (hard mod), or something else if someone can make a strong case for it.
For some perspective, here are some favorites of mine:
FFVII, FFV, FFT, Vagrant Story, .hack, original Pokemon (Red, Blue), DOC, Oblivion, Morrowind, and Suikoden III. That is probably a good list, I'm certain I'm forgetting some, but oh well.
