I don't know where I should introduce myself.

I don't know where I should introduce myself.
My name is MiLO83, I am 28 years old, and live in Canada.

I just discovered that tools are finally available to mod FF7 for PSX, I am an old ROM hacker and I check if PSX tools are out yet every few months.
Seems i found some headway has been made? I HATE being a noob, i have 3 diplomas in 3D animation and modeling, and a resume of ROM hacking experience.
I have been waiting and waiting to mod FF for PSX, I tried back in the day like 3 years ago and gave it a solid effort but couldn't find enough documentation to
feel i could reach my intended goals.

I have opened the PSX .BIN (iso) and i can see all the files lol. But i'm not a noob per-say i have done this sort of thing before many times.
I haven't read all the docs and i should but i'm excited to get clouds model exported into my 3d software, so i can look at the rig, create my own player,
(using clouds bones so the animations still work) and then recompressing the model and patching it in the iso. I know all about headers and pointers and such from other games,
none of which is FF7 specific. I tend to learn very fast i have a technical brain and have been using hex editors for over 10 years to tweek rip and patch. Lz compression, no problem.
I can help figure out stuff that hasn't been figured out yet. Can you tell me who i need to know, and how to find them? I guess I will read more docs in the mean time, I am specifically interest in modding PSX FF7 only.
I translated Final Fantasy 4 for GBA into Polish for fun cause i had a friend who is from Poland and he said it wasnt available in polish. (I looked for patches and found none)
I don't even speak a word of Polish but i ripped the script, got him to translate it, and put it all back in the game for him with non-game specific tools.
Just your regular ROM hacking toolset you'd find at Zophars.
Please if you have any interesting posts i should read, or know anyone else focusing on PSX modding, let me know!
Thanks!

Welcome to the party :) Glad to see another person interested in FF7 PSX modding.

Bosola is another person worth speaking to concerning modding the PSX version, as are akari, halkun, Cyberman, and a few others (I'm a bit tired, so please don't be offended if I forgot to mention your name).

As for me, I'm quite new to the FF7 modding scene as well, although I've been RAM-hacking FF7 and other games since 1998, before I founded GameHacking.org (then called GSHI.org). So far I've mapped out field and battle models, using work done by Akari as a launching point (field model data was already loosely mapped out, but the header was incorrectly documented, and battle model data was mapped out, but only for enemy models), and mapped out world map models WM0, WM1, and WM2 (Cloud, Tifa, and Cid); WM3 seems to be a collection of all the other world map models, but I haven't mapped it out yet. I've used the data I've gathered to make modified models in the field and battle modules (something no one else seems to have done for the PSX version), but I'm still working on modified world map models. The only reason I'm doing any of this is to support a prequel mod I'm working on...I'd much rather someone else to have already done this, so I could concentrate on the actual prequel mod, but...no such luck. Hopefully other people get something out of the work I'm doing, so two birds are hit in the process.

If there's anything I can help with, let me know.

I'd also add Gemini to that list, he's done some extensive PSX work as well.

Obesebear: Ah, forgot about Gemini; definitely notable.

Datapack: No one said anything about illegal copies. Please read before posting.
