Completely stuck thanks to crash
« on: 2013-07-08 21:28:47 »
Alright, so the game crashed right after I did the dolphin jumping minigame in Junon. There was the FMV of Cloud climbing the tower, and then I could walk around, but as soon as I walked to the section of that part where it zooms out into the big airfield instead of where Cloud just climbed up from, the game crashed. (It crashes an awful lot, by the way.) Anyways, I told it to write an emergency save, I renamed "crash.ff7" to "save00.ff7" and moved my original save to the Recycle Bin (But didn't delete it yet!), then immediately restarted the game. Now I can't call the dolphin to jump up there, AND I can't go up the elevator to go to the higher section of Junon. That save file is from before I fought Bottomswell (The first time I tried to fight him, the game crashed), and I really don't want to fight him again! Is there any way I can edit the save file to change my location to when you're in that Shinra soldier uniform?

Well, rather than just moving along in the game, if it crashes so much you should try to fix it. I can't help you do that because I've never had that problem.

(Sorry if this terminology is too unusual, I'm not big on the FF7 modding scene other than running Bootleg)

Field models: Everyone except Cloud is PRP Classic (Cloud is Bloodshot swordless. By the way, there's a glitch with him having the Masamune on his back in the overworld that I've NEVER seen in the multiple times I've ran Bootleg.)
Battle models: Cloud's is Hi-Res Classic, Barret's is "Classic", Tifa's is Bloodshot Classic, Sephiroth is HD Sephiroth, everyone else is No Change
Masamune and Cait Sith Weapon boxes checked

Base Models: Bootleg (Best of show)
Guard Scorpion, Sweeper boxes checked
Buggy, Submarine boxes checked
Fixed + Modified Animations
HQ Highwind, Dark+Core Ruby Weapon
New Style Phoenix, Team Avalanche save point, HD Bottles, Team Avalanche materia, Huge Materia box checked

Listing all the weapons things would take a trillion damn years, and no one wants that, but for most of them I used Millenia

JordieBro Dark credits, Buster Glare menu, Bootleg Field Textures (+Remove Glitched), Romeo14 AC Materia, Kela 51's original V3 Limit Texture,
Team Avalanche HR, Strayoff's Condor, Battle Scenes as PNG (The game crashes most often before a battle, but it happens somewhat often during Field sequences too), Grimmy's Upscaled Magic, Metallic Green Skill Coin texture

All Beautified avatars except Past Cloud and Sephiroth (unchanged)

New Spell Names, PSF MIDI soundtrack (which I changed the heck out of later on), Rumbah 1280 Sharp FMVs

Menu Overhaul, Show Status, Autosize Action Box, Sense Fix, 3D Battler Fix, Clock Fix, Snowboard Fix

Hiya EagleGuy, this is not normal behavior on a proper bootleg install. I have very rarely seen ff7 crash. AFAIK (As far as I know) the only frequent random crash that hasn't been nailed down on the bootleg version is a memory leak that takes a very long time to develop.

What directory is your game installed to please?
What operating system are you running?
Do you have User Access controls on?
Have you installed any Difficulty MODS***?

Post your APP.log please. Edit it into the post with your mods rather than creating a new one. Also, please use [ code ] APP.log text here [ /code ] and remove the spaces inside the brackets.

Um, guys...I fixed this, so I guess this should be closed. Basically, if you get stuck, just use the Trainer to teleport to your next destination :D
Also, I've reinstalled to a configuration that, although I've barely had time to use it, works pretty damn well. Basically it's just an emulation of the PSX version with the menu overhaul, Rebuilded field models for NPCs, and PRP Classic field models for playable characters. So basically I no longer have the APP.LOG fille from that problematic installation. My bad...it probably would have helped, but I didn't think to keep any of the files from the old FF7 folder.

Anyways,
C:\Games\FF7
Windows 7 Home Premium
Uh...well, I set BFE and Bootleg do run as Admin to stop any troubles. Don't know about the main game executable.
Nah, I'm vanilla.
