FFVIII PC version FPS Limiter?
« on: 2006-11-05 20:59:39 »
I was wondering if there was any way to put off the FPS limit in FFVIII.
Is there any way? Or any patch for it already?

Thanks in advance.

Well chaoscontro for many games if you force the Vertical Sync it gonna lock the FPS to 60 ... but I don't know if it gonna work with ff8.

I'll try that, isnt it as much as your refresh rate is btw? (instead of just 60)

Well... maybe.... I just noticed that the fps was locked with the Vsync since I have my LCD monitor so ... my  refresh rate is 60... I didn't test it with other refresh rate.... I think that forcing th Vsinc will lock it to 60 what ever refresh rate you use but... well I'm not sure so... if you find anything about this let me know.

Oh for FF7 ?? I thought that was for FF8... Well there is a patch for the FF7's mini games that are too fast if it's what you want.

You can get it from here:

Okey ... well as far as I know there is no patch/improvement for ff8 execpt the Sqare's patch, Ficedula's configurator and some soundfonts.  But, I played FF8 with my 3ghz and didn't have any problem.... where in the game do you need a FPS limiter ??

Well I don't need the limiter but I was wondering if there was some way to turn it off, it kinda bothers me how slow the game gets sometimes...

not as in the game runs slow but it "feels" slow when they are talking etc..

I just want to be able to put off the frame limit so it'll go like 140fps (or whatever) and i could skip through it a bit faster :P

So you are complaining about the game as it was ment to be is slow? I'm afraid without screwing up a lot of things that might be problematic.
There are several things to consider.

Frame rate for cutscenese/field.
Frame rate for battle.
Frame rate for tutorials
Frame rate for menu's.

The above should NOT be discused here, I suggest asking the technical aspects of framerate control in Technical. As that would be the correct forum.  Modifications are one thing but if you want to mess with the frame rate, there is no simple answer and it requires some technical digging into the application itself.
