har har. maybe I should just as an excuse to get out of the Zack project. What do you all think?

I think that finding out how to add new scenes would make most people happier than a Zack project.

And if not, it would make me happier, and that's all that matters. 8)
Well better then my chibi battle models idea.
If it does work it could also seqway into a few other suggestions I've seen before having to do with adding stuff. Once we figure out how to
-Add an area, character, items, movies, etc.
it can slightly open the door to other such details. Sure may not all be the same process, but building the first firework could eventually set off the arms race.
=================================
going to see what I can do with Meteor. If I figure anything out I'll let everyone know.

Creating a new field? Wouldn't try it myself. There's a lot we haven't reverse engineered to the field module, and a new area will quickly become very buggy.

Just look at the difficulties of creating a new battle scene - it's not conceptually hard, it's just the myriad of things that can go wrong.

I actually think we should encourage Furzball to do it. If he fails, we can all laugh at him and if he manages to get anywhere, we can jump on the bandwagon ;D

Also quick explanation on the FF1 map, original dissidia occured in FF1 world. Thats why WoL didn't disappear like the rest of the characters at the end.

104
Oh lol Kudi, I meant that as an wish not a statement of intent. I think it will be a long time before I'm ready to even think about actually attempting it. Considering people with ALOT more experience with in game programming won't touch it, I would have more headaches then my alcoholic uncle could count up in his lifetime. I'll stick with visuals, and story stuff until I get something nice released, then I'll see about learning more of the programming. Right now I've just been using the programs we have on board to do things like fiddle with materia and such.

105
I assume you could do that. I haven't done much field scripting myself, but wouldn't it simply be a matter of copying some code from an openable chest and using it to make the unopenable ones give you something?

The only potential problem is that it's pre-rendered and one wouldn't get to see it open, but I doubt many people would care. Hell, if you wanted to, you could just stick a normal chest in there.
Sounds cool then
Was there any other odd points/locked chests, unopenable doors that should be brought up?
Ex, I wish the door the shinra guards attack you at (when you jump off the train on the second mission of the game) lead somewhere.

Gone for job interviews, be back soon.

106
So I suppose the desert one is somewhat a joke. But it would be neat to try and change it into a workable chess. Would you know if that is possible Kudistos?

Unfortunant about the Kalm one. Everyone knows about it but don't always check it for obvious reasons, so I was considering hiding items in it.

107
There are 4 locked chests in FF7 that I can remember. 2 in shinra building (I think they're supposed to have something in them much later, forgot) The one that is a background image instead of normal chest in Kalm, and the one at the bottom of the hole in the desert (Gold Saucer) Prison (Which later is open for some reason with no item given). Has anyone checked these out in the programming? Can these chests and others be changed to give different responses or items?

it's totally crazy..
the startscreen is already finished, and I've already begun to actually start the game programming with my basic knowledge by the game sucks
at almost every 3rd line -.-'
If I ever finish it , i will be 68 y.o. ...

What I'd highly would suggest is, if you can instead of programming the entire thing yourself, split it up into easy to modify modules, and make a development kit for other people to split up the works amongst themselves. It's something I've been planning out for awhile now. My whole idea stems from having something like oblivion, fallout, unreal development kits being passed around. Even starcraft II people are starting to learn to make RPG's on. If you make a development kit FF7 specific. Other people could design the animations, graphics, materias, fields, etc.

if you wouldn't try it, I wouldn't have a prayer at it.

Obviously whole reason for this question is for the Zack mod. I figured on bringing in another character. Best I could do right now in that is swapping an NPC in certain areas to make it into a storyline figure, then using frog or vincents limit break ability to transform (someone was using it to make more limit breaks for sephiroth, changing him into safer sephiroth and such) to make the character appear in battle. Using the frog I'd have more control of the character but the stats and abilities would be copied from the character the was "frogged". Not to mention it could be used three times to make the character appear thrice on the field just like all three characters being frogged. Ugh... nightmare. Yeah so there's no way to add characters besides Zack and taking out Cloud.

Buggers buggers buggers. I just hate finding out about more work in a project. But thanks for the information Bosola.

111
Ok, I'm curious about the what battle datas are seperated and available for player controlled characters in battle. First we have the general cast of
-Cloud
-Barrett
-Tifa
-aerith
-red XIII
-Yuffie
-Cait Sith
-Vincent
-Cid
Whom all can have their battle data edited and models changed as far as we know.
Then we have flashback characters
-Young Cloud
-Sephiroth
Alternatively we also have
-frog (frogged?) characters
-Mini's

Now I'm guessing that out of the alternatives when characters are frogged, does that just change the model used, or does that change the battle stats as well, so in that sense, we could perhaps edit the frog feature to be different creatures or characters?
As for mini, safe to assume that it is the same as those experiments where we have seen Red XIII and other characters shrink and grow in size.

As far as I know, young clouds data is tied in with vincent or cait sith somehow. Similar to Sephiroth. Or is it possible to edit those two to become new characters?

I'm trying to piece together what I can do to add characters to the system without taking out characters needed storyline wise and hooked up to their own quests.

Interesting idea. Not going to happen. It will take too much time and people to work on it from scratch. Even Square Enix is saying as much as they want to they would not remake the game. Would take them longer then a year. If you still want to go for it shoot. I'll give you props for your accomplishments. But I think you're like alot of us that when we first started we had a big idea in our heads then we end up doing something else.

113
Hmmm...I have no idea what I actually want to do lol.
I am leaning more towards working with the code of the game.
so perhaps playing with the AI, or something. I'm not sure lol
So you're saying you want to mod, but have no goals in modding? Hmmm, well if you can do it, go though two above said methods of learning to do a mod while taking a small faction of work off someone else's project. Speak to anyone that has had mod ideas and see what you think you would like working on and join them in their endevor.

114
Well since you are asking for mod tutorials specifically
http://ff7modhd.yolasite.com/tutorials.php is a good place to start. I highly suggest googling (funny how that is a verb now) for the tutorials. This site and a few others show up. The one I gave you is a good place to start but I do suggest that while you do download their toolkit you look on this site for updated versions of the programs.

Most mods tend to be graphical, which is what most of the tutorials are for. However their isnt very many tutorials on programming. So pretty much I'd suggest going through the forums, seeing peoples examples, and contacting them depending on if their mod is similar to the ones you want to do. Only for advice, don't ask them to do the work for you.

115
sounds like a good idea to me. Most people are completely out of touch WITHOUT being absorbed into a MMORPG.
I would understand a limit of 8 hours a day. Standard work day and 16 hours to sleep and be with family. But 8 hours a week. FF14 will have to have quick leveling and a bunch of mini activities in order to make up for the time.

The past few years of chatting it up with you guys/gals and working on the Zack Project has been interesting to saw the least. I have enjoyed all our discussions and tried to contribute in my own way. Unfortunantly with my life as it is, I'm having to start concentrating on other things that will later benefit me. Mainly Job, College, and my art/game design. I love FF7 and it will always be my top retro game. Unfortunantly the Zack project is being dropped with only most of the text done and some model fixes for Zack character (unfotunantly didnt get around to finishing Cissnei). I can pass along the notes to anyone that would like to continue it from where I'm leaving it. [email protected]

Thank you all for being such wonderful people, the time spent here, and good times. I wish you all the best and will peek in occasionally to look at mods and projects. Again Thanks

Edit: on an odd coincidence. Post 500.
Edit: if anyone interested, one of the things I'm putting my time into is my own website. I know shameless self advert. But if any of you want to still hang out with me, you'll find me running the board at http://www.furzball.9250x.com/phpbb3 it's a roleplaying forum, some FF7 so far but the story is still being made up since it is a multiverse deal.

You want a good start, try meditation for dummies. Learn how to engage the brain and how it ticks before messing with the clockwork.

*some stuff about proxies*

You might want to delete / edit that post. A word of advice: when I was a mod, we instantly suspended anyone who gave instructions on either proxies or ban bypassing. All appeals went through us (and usually didn't succeed - we rarely needed that person, and didn't want the extra potential hassle).

Likewise, relaying posts / messages from the banned individual was an offence too.
Sorry I didn't notice what happened till tonight. Sorry about that guys, wasn't thinking, drunken foot in brain got in the way. Thanks Athleticbear.

Topanga? Does she still act?
imdb says not since '07
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004918/
I haven't seen the weight loss ads, though.
WIKIFAIL!

she has been the host of "The Dish" since 2008. Basically celebrity fashion/culture.
(realistically)She is at the top of my list of, if you can starbucks with a celebrity.(unrealistically but true) I'd like to tap that.
As for getting stuck on a desert island I still choose Chuck Norris. He'll roundhouse kick anything to do with LOST and stare split the water open so we can walk to Amsterdam and get supahigh!

Ok back on topic, of course TV in the gameroom, usually have to spend time watching with my family then. They all have cooties so I just hang out in my room most of my media time.

I'm not yet concerned about the actual textures, for now they're most temporary placements.

I think I'll replace everything with....

LEGO FF7 by LEGO-MY-SOFT

Actually that would be quite humorous to make a LEGO version of the FF7 models :D

This highly made me want to go get my legos and start making stuff but my balls got winning vote in not going up into my parents attic to have them melt.

Portable dvd player or PC. Laptop if I'm on the go. Portable DVD when I'm using desktop for wow. Hook up portable DVD to run on TV for bigger screen (mostly good for music videos and other background noise). Desktop computer only if I want Hi Def for certain movies or shows (mmm Danielle Fishel looks so much hotter on my computer)

Harvest moon for PS1 was by far the BEST BEST BEST on the series, if you havent got it, freaking download epsxe and go out and buy it! That sh*t is bomb lol. Ive played all harvest moons btw(cept for the girl ones)
Friends of Mineral towns basically. I have it both for PS1 and the one bundled in the Boy&Girl PSP game. It is definantly the best one. I got a new one for PSP and ended up not liking it as much but still playing it out of the fact that I plan to get my $20 out of it.

Around here he is. Any board, admin is god/dess, king/queen, father/mother. They own your virtual soul while you are on their site. You piss them off or they're particularly psycho (yes its happened) that day then out you go.

Funny story. One admin on a roleplay forum accused me of being a hacker (his site just got hacked the day I signed up) so he banned me. Well I went back in during a busy time and made my case on the shoutbox. Hence getting on the admins wife side and she unbanned me and got him to apologize. Definantly win for a middle school kid at the time...

Back on subject though. I agree if DarkFank finds backdoor access and registers in an anonymous manner he should have a chance. So long as he doesn't start stirriing trouble again.

I sorta am in the middle where sometimes I like grinding and others I just want the storyline. Take FFx-2 for example. I found that I had to grind more then FFX in it. Especially since they should have done just a minisode thing like the one they gave away on demo disks before hand. (was going to put a vid up but cant find it on youtube) (was the one where it was yuna in her summoners dress, saying she's been practicing holding her breath and other things thinking about tidus)

But yeah back on topic, I like how in world of warcraft it does missions to help level you up and you get storyline, that's how it should be in final fantasy. Instead of just monster grinding you should do side mission or other missions having to do with main story to level you up as you go along. Make monster grinding only good for getting certain items, statistics, more money, that sort of thing.
